The position is attached to the international research project International Study on Surgical Reconstruction for Post-Amputation Pain, funded by the Promobilia Foundation.
The project comprises two parallel randomized controlled trials comparing two reconstructive nerve surgery techniques, Targeted Muscle Reinnervation (TMR) and Regenerative Peripheral Nerve Interface (RPNI), for the treatment and prevention of pain after amputation.
The studies are coordinated from Karolinska University Hospital and conducted in collaboration with nine leading international hospitals, including the Prometei Pain Rehabilitation Center in Ukraine and collaborating surgeons and research teams in Italy, the USA, Australia, Canada, Chile, and the UK.
